My personal journey
I began practicing yoga in 1999 after it was recommended by a doctor. He wanted me to practice deep breathing and yoga to help cope with my diagnosis of severe anxiety and depression. I will admit to being skeptical at first. However, once I began practicing in earnest I quickly realized the life-altering benefits that this practice gave to me.
I laughingly call myself a recovering Type-A personality. I have struggled with stress management and an inability to let go for years. It is an ongoing journey and struggle, much like that of an alcoholic. It is something you must practice and be mindful of each day.
After seeing the benefits these practices have brought to my own life, I have decided to share them with others. If I can help one person live a happier, more peaceful, and satisfying life, I will consider my practice a success.
I come from a Christian background and have a deep interest in Indian and Eastern Medicine. I am also deeply interested in the Appalachian Folk Medicine of my ancestors. Bringing all of the concepts together with yoga, my hope is to show you a path to a different kind of health and wellness.
***I am not a doctor. My practice and advice is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it. You are advised to do your own research and make decisions in partnership with your health care provider.
